Can somebody please make time slow down just a little bit? I can't believe it's already 2009. TeamSC has got a lot going on so check it out.
I hope everyone is working on their January Creative Challenge item. The theme is LOVE and you will have until the 31st at midnight to enter your item. You can find all the rules and regulations as well as prizes here.
Our NEXT TEAM MEETING is scheduled for Tuesday February 3 @ 8 PM in the Virtual Labs. I hope to see many of you there, bring your ideas for the team or just come by to say hey!
We had a great meeting of Upstate members on Monday January 19th at the Golden Corral in Spartanburg. The members who came were morganalexadesigns, AllAbouttheButtons, cuharvey, NascarNana, hawleywood, gemlover7476, bittybooks, jmkoontz, and myself rocknrollmcmama.
Here are a few things we discussed at the meeting
1. We will set up a monthly meeting. The next one will be Wednesday, February 18th at 6:00 pm at Stax Omega Diner 264 Beacon Dr, Greenville, SC 864 286-6850
It's just off Pelham Road and I85. The meeting is for all teamSC members. Sandy (morganalexadesigns) will post the information on the Message Board and send an email to upstate members. If you didn't get a notice from her this time please email her your address and she will make sure you get one in February.
2. We are going to get a booth at the Barnyard Flea Market in Greer sometime in June. The cost is low and it's a way for those of us who have never done anything like a fair... a chance to sell to the public.
3. We are going to look into making group purchases at wholesale prices.
Also I've set up a new forum on our private messages boards so we can share photos if you would like. I know when I met everyone on Monday I had no idea what anyone looked like so it was kind of awkward... "Ummm etsy???" LOL.

About the CPSIA (Cosumer Product Safety Improvement Act)
I know that we have several team members who create children's items. I'm sure that most of you know by now about the CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) that will go into effect on February 10, 2009. This law will prevent any of us who make items intended for children under 12 from selling on etsy. The law states that any item intended for children under 12 must be tested for lead at the seller's expense. It costs about $400-$600 to test each article, sometimes more. It includes toys, knitted items, clothing, ANYTHING for children. I have written a letter to our two state senators and my local representative. At our last meeting we had some who were interested in doing more contests to promote the team. I would like to set up a Contest Committee to help organize these. If you have interest in being on the Contest Committee send me an email !
